Wisdom may not come on tap. But it seems that vintage can.
The trend for bottle- and house-aged cocktails has been brewing gently for some time now (here’s a charming NYTimes post from last July, citing 69 Colebrooke Row’s Tony C and Jeffrey Morganthaler from Portland’s Clyde Common bar on the matter).
And now, for those who want to reap the rewards without the potentially prohibitive temporal and fiscal investments, Master of Malt are stocking pre-bottled aged classics from The Handmade Cocktail Company. Sazeracs, Rob Roys, Gin Martinis, Manhattans and Negronis are currently up for grabs at the £20-£30 mark for a 700ml bottle.
Fancy alcopops or instant, well-made classics? Who knows. At least until we get our grubby little paws and palates on a bottle or four.
